Articulating bite valve provides on/off control of water and—when on—positions valve to be comfortably held in mouth. Backpanel material sheds snow and dries quickly. Diagonal or traditional A-frame ski-carrying system accommodates wide skis and bulky bindings. Features side compression to secure the load for stable carrying. Flip back the top lid to access main compartment with room for safety essentials, food and extra layers. For insulation from the cold, hose runs through right shoulder strap; zippered strap pocket provides access to valve or hides it out of the way. For those that like to earn their turns in the backcountry, our REI Double Diamond pack offers technical functionality, easy access and hydration. Front pleated outside pocket for shovel and other avalanche gear features an exterior handle keeper and ice axe loop. Hipbelt snugs comfortably around hips to help distribute weight to your hips, not your back; hipbelt features a pocket for easy access to small items. Inside the main compartment you'll find a clear accessory pocket and a tool sleeve for probes or snow saws. Snow-resistant rip-and-stick closure is used on the front flap opening. Three-liter hydration system features premier Nalgene® TPE reservoir and hose for fresh-tasting water on demand all day long. Top lid pocket can hold snow-study tools and small items; outside of pocket features a bungee system for lashing on climbing skins or extra clothing.
