Aluminum rod frame provides structure while large back panel zipper offers total access inside, even with skis or snowboard attached on front. Articulating bite valve provides on/off control of water and--when on--positions valve to be comfortably held in mouth. Designed for skiers and snowboarders accessing the backcountry via lifts, our roomy, versatile REI® Fall Line pack is fully hydration equipped. Ergonomically sculpted shoulder straps enhance the fit; improved sternum strap design keeps shoulder straps lying comfortably flat in place. For insulation from cold, hose runs through the right shoulder strap; zippered strap pocket provides access to valve or hides it out of the way. High and low compression straps help stabilize gear for security and more comfortable carrying; single daisy chain lets you attach items outside. Main compartment provides room aplenty for probe, skins, food, safety essentials and extra layers of clothing. No need to fret over losing your shovel: New zippered pocket now encloses shovel securely; exterior loops hold shovel handle tight. No need to purchase separate hydration system--Fall Line features a premier Nalgene® CXC system with anti-microbial two-liter reservoir and hose. Plus, you can provide further protection against hose freeze-up by inserting a handwarmer packet (sold separately) in the pocket. Skis or snowboard are easily attached; skis carry diagonally across the front of the pack while snowboards carry vertically down the center.
