K2 Apache Coomba Skis
K2 Apache Coomba Skis

A percentage of all Coomba sales will be donated to the Coombs family. Balanced flex pattern and generous 102mm waist create excellent flotation and easy handling in difficult conditions. Designed for 90% ungroomed and 10% groomed skiing. Doug Coombs worked with K2 for more than two years developing this next-generation powder ski, designed for steep-skiing alpinists and heli skiers. Fir wood core produces a natural flex, allowing the ski to achieve full contact with the snow throughout the turn. K2 will also donate a portion of the proceeds to the American Mountain Guide Association's fund focused on improving guide education and safety. MOD technology doesn't affect flex, allowing the skis to bend freely while absorbing vibrations and increasing power, forgiveness and performance. MOD technology features an elastomeric secondary core which works as a high-performance suspension and damping system. Named for the late Doug Coombs, the K2 Apache Coomba is a testament to the ski legend's years of guiding and revolutionary extreme skiing. New tip shape is extremely predictable and forgiving in variable snow and powder. Progressive sidecut has different curve shapes along different parts of the ski—more aggressive in the tip, less aggressive in the tail. The progressive sidecut results in confident, quick turn initiation in hard snow and easy release in crud and powder. Torsion Box design utilizes a Triaxial-braided wood core to create a high degree of rebound and performance. Triaxial braiding wraps an interlocking fiberglass weave around the wood core providing torsional stiffness, responsive turning and sensitivity.
